Q4Max also includes an extensive menu which allows every option that players are likely to wish to change to be edited without resorting to. Q4Max has a completely re-designed hud system which makes it much easier for players to change the hud to their preferences. Q4Max also has support for bots - AI opponents to practice against, or to help fill a server while you're waiting for someone to join, as well as the "tutorbot" that can be used to learn specific moves. In addition to simply making the game slicker, Q4Max adds a number of new gametypes (Duel, Clan Arena, Capture Strike, Freezetag - both US and EU variants, and Domination), as well as features such as advanced server statistics, admin and referee modes that allows server operators to configure the server the way they want. Other spectator features include item timers to show when items will respawn, and the ability to chat with other Q4TV viewers. There are features for competition spectators and broadcasters - for example, "multipov" allows you to spectate both players in a duel, or all players on a team in team games.

#Quake 4 multiplayer gameplay mod#
This makes Q4Max the standard mod for competative play, and was used by all the major eSports competitions - CPL, ESWC, WSVG, GGL, CB, QuakeCon, and more. Q4Max adds features which make Quake 4 suitable for use for competitive play (such as timeouts, teamlock, brightskins, chattokens, auto action demo recording), fixes and general improvements to the base game, without changing the underlying Quake 4 gameplay.
